When you or someone in your family feels stressed and/or overwhelmed,
the effects can seem devastating. Cindi Bockwitz is a Licensed Professional
Counselor & Supervisor, and Registered Play Therapist & Supervisor.
She is available for counseling, coaching, therapy, consultation, and
training. She works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, families,
and organizations. Using predominantly person-centered and family systems
approaches, Cindi addresses a variety of concerns and issues. These
may include parenting issues, treatment of children with behavioral disorders,
grief and loss, depression and anxiety, premarital assessment, relationship
issues, trauma, and life and personal adjustment.
Emotional growth involves changing ways of perceiving and experiencing
the world. Belief systems are composed of attitudes, prejudices, beliefs,
assumptions, and expectations that are brought into current relationships
from families of origin and the experiences one has had. Cindi
focuses on the needs of each individual with the goal of facilitating
learning, change, and growth. Through an ongoing learning process, coping
skills can be developed and personal solutions to problems can be achieved.
Cindi believes that every individual has an intrinsic (internal) ability
and desire to move toward positive growth when given the right tools.
She also understands that every individual is influenced by, and responds
to, the environment in which they live.
Counseling
involves learning to:
- Make conscious choices. (Why am I doing what I am doing?)
- Take responsibility for one’s thoughts,
feelings, and actions. (Are my choices keeping me on the path I
want to be on? Are they helping me be the best person I can be?)
- Define relationships (How do I care for others and for myself?
How do I identify and state my needs? How do I create and maintain
healthy boundaries with others?)
- Manage emotional pain, reactions, and stress? (What can I do to
deal with my experiences in the best ways?)
- Develop goals for self-improvement. (How do I want to be different
and how can I achieve those desired changes?)
- Separate feelings from thoughts (How do I feel? vs. What do I think?)
- Look within oneself for validation. (How can I learn not to depend
on others for my sense of who I am?)
