The phoenix is a mythical bird that never dies, flying far ahead to the front, always scanning the landscape and distant space. At the end of its life cycle it burns itself on a funeral pyre. From the ashes a new phoenix rises with renewed youth and beauty.
The long life of the phoenix and its dramatic rise from its own ashes make it a symbol of growth and rebirth. In this way, the process of therapy unfolds. The phoenix represents our capacity for vision, for collecting information about ourselves and our environment, and the events unfolding within our own lives.
